Frequently asked questions
Can I install the canopy myself?
Yes – prefabricated polycarbonate canopies are designed for DIY installation, provided you have the basic tools (drill, spirit level, suitable screws/anchors, etc.) and carefully follow the instructions provided. It is important to check the suitability of the masonry support and/or foundation plinths and to use suitable fixing systems.
Is a building permit required to install a polycarbonate canopy?
It depends on the municipal regulations of the installation location and/or any landscape restrictions. In many cases, if the canopy is limited in size, does not alter the building outline, does not interfere with public land and does not require significant structural changes, it may fall under “free building activity”. However, it is always advisable to contact your municipality’s technical office to check the specific situation.
How resistant is polycarbonate material?
Polycarbonate is a highly impact-resistant plastic material (up to about 250 times more resistant than traditional glass) and is treated to resist UV rays, so it is guaranteed against yellowing for several years (see the specific documentation for details). It is still important to avoid mechanical stress and carry out periodic maintenance measures (e.g. cleaning, checking anchors).
Do polycarbonate canopies withstand hail and snow?
Yes – polycarbonate is one of the best transparent materials for resistance to snow and hail (see the specific documentation for details), but it is essential to choose panels of suitable thickness (typically 4-10 mm), using the manufacturers’ tables based on specific requirements and any existing supporting structures in compliance with current regulations. In mountain areas or particularly snowy areas, we recommend a technical assessment of load capacity.
How long does it take to ship and deliver the canopies?
Because the product range is very extensive, some products are ready for delivery (to be collected or shipped within a few days), while others require specific processing and treatments that take 10 to 30 working days. Standard courier delivery in Italy takes 2-7 working days depending on the destination. For urgent or special requests, we can evaluate shorter times by agreement.
What dimensions are available and can I request a custom size?
Standard dimensions are provided for each model. If you have special requirements (width, depth, reduced or increased height), you can request a custom-made version: contact us with the desired measurements and we will check technical feasibility and price.
Is maintenance required? If so, how often and what needs to be done?
Maintenance is minimal, but recommended to ensure durability and performance:
- Periodic cleaning of the panels with water, avoiding chemicals of any kind, abrasives or solvents.
- Periodic checking of anchors, screws, seals and the supporting structure.
- In aggressive environments (near the sea, industrial areas), more frequent checks may be useful.
Is the canopy also suitable for windy areas or areas subject to heavy climatic loads?
Yes, but it is necessary to choose the right model and check that the structure is sized for local conditions (wind speed, snow load, exposure). We suggest specifying these situations when requesting a quotation so we can recommend the most suitable model. On request, with a surcharge, a calculation report prepared by our structural engineer can be provided.
How does payment work and what are the terms?
We offer several payment methods (bank transfer, credit card, PayPal). Payment generally works as follows: deposit at the time of order, balance on shipment/before delivery. Specific details are stated in the offer.
What happens if my order arrives damaged or parts are missing?
On delivery, it is important to check packaging and goods before signing, following the detailed instructions sent before shipment, and proceed as indicated to activate the request for replacement or integration of what is needed as soon as possible.
